Professor Wyn Bowen is Co-Director of the Freeman Air and Space Institute at King’s College London, Visiting Scientist at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, and William Penney Fellow at the UK Atomic Weapons Establishment. Previously, he led King’s School of Security Studies (2016-2022), served as Dean of Defence Studies (2014-2016), and directed the Centre for Science and Security Studies (2007-2014). His international experience includes work with the UN in Iraq and IAEA nuclear safeguards consultancy. His research examines: Nuclear proliferation dynamics in Libya/Iran Chemical weapons deterrence strategies Trust-building in arms control Threat reduction frameworks US security policy implementation He received the William Penney Fellowship and advised the UK Ministry of Defence during the 2015 Strategic Defence Review. At the Freeman Institute, he coordinates interdisciplinary research on aerospace security challenges.
