Gloria Platero is a Research Professor at the Materials Science Institute of Madrid (ICMM), CSIC, and an affiliated member of the Gregorio Millán Institute on Nanoscience and Industrial Mathematics at Carlos III University of Madrid. She leads the research group "New Platforms and Nanodevices for Quantum Simulation and Quantum Computation," focusing on quantum nanotechnologies, topological materials, and Floquet engineering. Her academic roles include serving as APS Fellow in Quantum Information and Secretary of the C8 IUPAP Commission on Semiconductor Physics, with upcoming leadership as Chair from 2025. Platero has delivered over 100 invited/keynote talks globally and was a Mercator Fellow at the University of Regensburg. Her research explores spin qubits in quantum dot arrays, hybrid superconducting-cavity systems, and the interplay of topology and driving fields. Key areas include photon-mediated quantum information transfer, Floquet engineering of Dirac cones, and topological synchronization in van der Pol oscillators. Platero has supervised numerous PhD students now active in academia. Her awards include the APS Fellowship and Mercator Fellowship, alongside contributions to policy initiatives like the "Women for Quantum" manifesto.
