Dr. Jesse Bazzul is Professor and Subject Area Chair of Science & Environmental Education (ESCI) in the Faculty of Education at the University of Regina. His scholarly work bridges educational philosophy, social and ecological justice, and science education, with a distinctive focus on ethics as the core discipline of education and the ethical imperative to allow difference to emerge in pedagogical practice. His academic credentials include: PhD (2013) from the University of Toronto/Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE) M. Ed. (2006) from the University of Ottawa B. Ed. (2001) from the University of Toronto/OISE Honours B. Sc. (2000) in Biological Sciences from Brock University Dr. Bazzul's research program investigates transdisciplinary approaches to ethics in education, particularly through the lenses of environmental crisis, science studies, and posthumanism. His scholarship challenges anthropocentric educational models by exploring solidarity with nonhumans, ontological politics in science classrooms, and the role of aesthetics in environmental pedagogy. Current work examines how educators can respond ethically to ecological emergencies through creative ontological experimentation rather than predefined solutions. Analysis of his 12 recent publications (2016-2022) reveals a decisive shift toward Anthropocene-focused scholarship since 2019, with increasing emphasis on nonhuman agencies, biopolitics, and postdigital ecopedagogies. His work demonstrates strong interdisciplinary integration across educational philosophy, environmental humanities, and science studies, frequently employing collaborative methodologies and international partnerships to address planetary-scale challenges. As Subject Area Chair and Professor, Dr. Bazzul mentors graduate students in science and environmental education research while leading curriculum development in his department. His editorial roles, including co-editing the 2021 volume 'Reimagining Science Education in the Anthropocene', indicate significant scholarly leadership beyond his institutional affiliation. Though no named laboratory is associated with his work, Dr. Bazzul cultivates dynamic research environments through collaborative networks focused on ethical experimentation in educational practice. His forthcoming 2022 book 'An intense calling' promises to further develop his central thesis regarding multiplicitous ethics as education's foundational commitment.
