Ludovico Carrino is an Associate Professor of Public Economics at the University of Trieste and holds affiliations with King’s College London and Ca’ Foscari University of Venice. He is a Research Fellow at King’s, an Adjunct Professor at the University of Trieste, and a Consultant for the World Health Organization’s Kobe Centre. His research focuses on the economics of aging, long-term care, pensions, and mental health policy, with a strong emphasis on applied health economics and policy evaluation. Education: PhD in Economics from Ca’ Foscari University (2015), Master’s and Bachelor’s in Economics from the University of Trieste. Key roles: Co-investigator on projects like IN-CARE (EU-funded) and WORKLONG (ESRC-funded), leading research on aging populations and policy impacts. Research interests include the social and economic determinants of health, particularly in aging populations. He has published extensively on long-term care systems, pension reforms, and the mental health impacts of public policies. Notable projects include evaluating the UK’s Campaign to End Loneliness and studying the effects of extended working lives on health. His work has been disseminated through high-impact journals like Health Economics , Journal of Epidemiology and Community Health , and American Journal of Geriatric Psychiatry . He has also engaged with policymakers through advisory roles and media contributions, addressing topics such as pension reform and long-term care equity. Teaching responsibilities include courses in public economics, macroeconomics, and data analysis at the University of Trieste and King’s College London. He has supervised numerous doctoral and postgraduate students, contributing to their academic and professional development.
