Santiago Villarreal-Narvaez is a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Namur's Namur Digital Institute (NADI), focusing on Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), gestural interaction, and augmented reality. He holds a Ph.D. in Engineering Science (2023) from Jean Monnet University, France, and previously taught software development as a Professor at Universidad de Las Américas. His collaborations include the SI2 Lab-UDLA (ePHoRt project) and LouRIM (UCLouvain) on ECA MecaTech and CARDIAMMONIA. Bachelor's in Computer Science, 2007 Master's in Web Intelligence, 2010 Ph.D. in Engineering Science, 2023 His research explores gesture elicitation studies, multimodal interface development, and radar-based gesture recognition. Recent work emphasizes XR environments and ring-based wearable devices. Gesture Elicitation Studies Wearable Technology Augmented Reality Multimodal Interfaces User-Centered Design Scientific recognition includes: Best Paper Award, 2019 LouRIM Research Excellence Award, 2021 SIGCHI Gary Marsden Travel Award, 2022 He has contributed to gesture vocabulary design, radar interface development, and semantic search applications in HCI. Current projects leverage these domains for vehicular XR and multi-finger wearable devices.
