Jost Sieweke is an Associate Professor of Strategic Leadership at the Department of Management & Organization , School of Business and Economics , Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam . He holds a PhD from the University of Duesseldorf (2012) and has served as a visiting scholar at the Beedie School of Business (Simon Fraser University, 2015) and the Stockholm School of Economics (2016). From 2019-2024, he led the Executive MBA: Leading with Purpose program. He is also a lecturer at LUISS Business School (Amsterdam, 2024–2033). His research focuses on two core themes: (1) strategic leadership , including crisis leadership, leadership team composition, and follower behavior; and (2) human errors and organizational learning , exploring how errors are managed and how organizations adapt. He is a proponent of natural experiments , using designs like difference-in-differences and regression discontinuity to study leadership dynamics. He curates natural experiments.org to support scholarly research in this area. Awards include Best Reviewer Awards (2021, 2023) and contributions to the Journal of Management Studies and The Leadership Quarterly editorial boards. His work intersects with UN Sustainable Development Goals, particularly addressing inequality (SDG 10) and quality education (SDG 4). Teaching and Grants : Currently teaches Integrative Research Project and Management Consulting . Co-led the DEVELOPING THE MANAGEMENT STUDIES COMMUNITY grant (2023). His datasets span leadership, error management, and European values studies, with collaborations across universities and institutions globally.
