Augusto Sampaio is a Full Professor in Software Engineering at the Center of Informatics (CIn), Federal University of Pernambuco (UFPE), Brazil. He holds a CNPq top-level Productive Researcher scholarship since 1995 and has coordinated major national/international projects, including the EU-funded COMPASS project and the Brazilian National Institute for Science and Technology (INCT) on Software Engineering. His work spans formal methods, model-based testing, and industry collaboration, notably with Motorola, Embraer, and The Blockhouse Technology. Contributed to linking algebraic and operational semantics, formal testing, and smart contract verification. Led the creation of the Brazil Test Center, involving over 1,000 collaborators and pioneering 4G testing labs in the Southern Hemisphere. Developed the Software Residency program, blending academic and industrial training for software engineers. His industry partnerships focus on formal testing, avionics analysis, and blockchain verification.
