Dr. Rachel Borton is an Associate Professor and Department Chairperson in the Nursing Department at Bradley University's College of Education & Health Sciences. She joined Bradley in 2010 as a part-time clinical instructor, became Assistant Professor in 2011, and assumed roles as FNP Director (2015) and Chairperson subsequently. She holds a Ph.D. from Illinois State University, an MSN (Family Nurse Practitioner) from the University of Phoenix, and a BSN from Bradley. Her research emphasizes nursing education innovation , clinical skill development , and healthcare leadership . Recent work includes studies on skills bootcamps for online students, clinical case analyses (e.g., aortic dissection), and academic succession planning. She secured grants like the NPSUDMedEd Course Grant from ASAM. Dr. Borton teaches graduate and undergraduate courses including Advanced Health Assessment, DNP seminars, and Maternal-Newborn Nursing. She holds ANCC certification as a Family Nurse Practitioner with Full Practice Authority in Illinois.
