Nader Rafla is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at Boise State University, where he has served since January 1997 after previously holding an Associate Professor position in Manufacturing Engineering at Central State University from 1991 to 1996. His academic credentials include: Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from Case Western Reserve University (1991) MSEE from Case Western Reserve University (1984) Dr. Rafla's research centers on embedded systems design with emphasis on systems-on-programmable-chip and microprocessor-based architectures. He develops hardware implementations for digital image and signal processing algorithms applied to object recognition, industrial inspection, automation, and control systems. His industrial consulting with Micron Technology and Hewlett Packard demonstrates real-world application of these techniques. He maintains professional distinction as a Senior Member of IEEE and multiple IEEE societies. At Boise State, Dr. Rafla has supervised numerous Master's theses and senior design projects while leading the development of the MS in Computer Engineering program.
