Professor Filippo Maria Fazi is an internationally recognized faculty member at the University of Southampton, affiliated with the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research (ISVR). He leads the Virtual Acoustics and Audio Engineering Team and serves as the ISVR's Director of Research. His work focuses on 3D audio capture and reproduction, sound field control, and acoustical inverse problems. PhD in Acoustics (ISVR, University of Southampton, 2010) MSc in Mechanical Engineering (University of Brescia, 2005) His research spans audio engineering and acoustics, emphasizing practical applications in binaural audio, microphone/loudspeaker arrays, and cross-talk cancellation. Key projects involve personalized audio systems for automotive environments and advanced sound field reconstruction technologies. Professor Fazi's recent publications highlight innovations in spatial audio algorithms, loudspeaker array optimization, and immersive sound reproduction techniques. His work bridges physical acoustics, signal processing, and psychoacoustics. Scientific Awards: Tyndall Medal (Institute of Acoustics, 2018) Fellow of the Audio Engineering Society ANC Prize for Best Paper by a Young Person (2008) ICA Young Scientist Grant (2010) He has secured significant funding from EPSRC, RAEng, and industry partners like Huawei, BBC, and ASK. His patented technologies have been commercialized via Audioscenic, a start-up he co-founded.
