Professor Rosemary Smith is a faculty member in the Graduate School of Biomedical Science and Engineering at the University of Maine. With a PhD in Bioengineering from the University of Utah (1982), her research focuses on the application of interdisciplinary knowledge to solve measurement problems through micro/nanofabrication techniques. Current projects involve biomedical microsensor development Specializes in minimally invasive health monitoring technologies Expertise in MEMS and BioMEMS device fabrication Her work spans biomedical engineering, materials science, and analytical instrumentation, with recent publications emphasizing: Nanopore sensors and nanoelectrode fabrication Microneedle array applications Microfluidic gradient generators Advanced nanofabrication techniques Field-deployable biosensors Metal-assisted chemical etching mechanisms Professor Smith has contributed to key journals including Development , Nanotechnology , and Biosensors and Bioelectronics since 1998.
