Sabine Baumgartner is an Associate Professor at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences, Vienna (BOKU), affiliated with the Department of Bioanalytics and Agro-Metabolomics . Her work focuses on food chemistry , allergen detection , and immunoassay development for food safety. Research interests include: Molecular characterization of food allergens Development of ELISA and lateral flow devices Mass spectrometry for allergen quantification Protein extraction/purification from plant and insect sources Allergen risk assessment frameworks Her publications span 15+ years of innovation in antibody production, cross-reactivity analysis, and multi-technique validation (ELISA, PCR, MS). Key projects include the Danube Allergy Research Cluster and EU-funded iFAAM initiatives. Scientific awards include the Altvizerektorinnenkette (2023) and FEMtech Expertin des Monats (2009). She supervises PhD and Master’s theses on food allergen detection and serves on advisory committees for AOAC , CEN/TC 275/WG12 , and MoniQA Association . Current roles include deputy head of her institute and membership in the Scientific Advisory Board of DIE ERNÄHRUNG journal.
