She holds adjunct professorships at the Department of Biochemistry, Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, National University of Singapore (NUS); Duke-NUS Graduate Medical School; and Lee Kong Chien School of Medicine, NTU. Her research focuses on infectious diseases, particularly immune responses to arboviruses like Chikungunya (CHIKV), with emphasis on vaccine development and disease pathogenesis. Education: BSc Biochemistry (University of Manchester, 1995); PhD in Molecular Virology (NUS, 2002). Research interests include vector-borne diseases, immune-pathology, and public health strategies. Her work on SARS and CHIKV has advanced understanding of viral mechanisms and clinical management. She leads the Microbial Immunity Lab and collaborates in initiatives like ICRES, a EU-funded project. Notable achievements include the ASEAN International Young Scientist Award (2008) and A*STAR’s Most Inspiring Mentor Award (2013). Her lab employs integrated approaches to identify prognostic markers and develop immune-based therapies. Advising and mentorship: Supervises PhD students including SAM Jian Hung, Liang Hui LOO, and others. Her teams investigate CHIKV’s immune evasion and host responses, leveraging animal models for therapeutic development. Labs/Teams: Microbial Immunity Lab at A*STAR ID Lab, contributing to global efforts against emerging viral threats.
