Dr. Adriana Rivera is an Assistant Professor of Spanish at Asbury University, specializing in contemporary Latin American literature, particularly the works of second and third-generation authors of the Spanish Exile in Mexico. Her research focuses on 20th–21st century literature, Mexican studies, transatlantic connections, and memory studies. She teaches a wide range of courses, including Senior Seminar, Spanish literature, linguistics, and film-based cultural analysis. Her current book project examines the legacy of Spanish exile in Mexico through Jordi Soler’s works. Recent academic contributions include articles under review and conference presentations on themes such as postmemory, gender violence in exile narratives, and coloniality in post-exile literature. She actively engages in professional development, presenting at conferences like the Mountain Interstate Foreign Language Conference and the Kentucky Foreign Language Conference. Dr. Rivera holds a PhD in Hispanic Studies from the University of Kentucky. Her teaching philosophy emphasizes visual media integration and student engagement, as highlighted in collaborative presentations at pedagogical conferences.
