Gabor Fodor is an Adjunct Professor in Wireless Systems at the Division of Decision and Control Systems, Royal Institute of Technology (KTH). He is also a Master Researcher at Ericsson Research (Radio Department). His academic appointments span both academia and industry, reflecting his strong connection between theoretical research and practical applications in wireless communications. Dr. Fodor received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering (major in communications engineering) in 1988 and 1998 respectively from Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BUTE), Hungary. After completing his Ph.D., he joined Ericsson Research in Stockholm where he has held various research positions, advancing to his current role as Master Researcher. Since 2017, he has held the position of Adjunct Professor at KTH. His research focuses on wireless communications with particular emphasis on physical layer and medium access control layer algorithms , radio resource management , performance analysis and optimization techniques in wireless access networks , multiple antenna techniques , mmWave communications , and device-to-device communications . His work bridges theoretical analysis with practical implementation, as evidenced by his extensive patent portfolio and industry collaborations. Dr. Fodor has made significant contributions to the field through his editorial roles, including serving as Associate Editor in Chief of the IEEE Communications Magazine, Editor of IEEE Wireless Communications, and Editor of the IEEE Transactions on Wireless Communications (2017-2022). He has also chaired important initiatives such as the IEEE Communications Society Full-Duplex Communications and Self-Interference Cancellation Emerging Technology Initiatives. Among his notable achievements are: Fellow of the IEEE Fellow of the Asia-Pacific Artificial Intelligence Association (AAIA) Corecipient of the IEEE Communications Society Stephen O. Rice Prize in 2018 Best student conference paper award by the IEEE Sweden VT/COM/IT Chapter (2018) Author of over 100 peer-reviewed publications Co-author of more than 200 granted US and EU patent applications Dr. Fodor actively supervises doctoral students at KTH, serving as principal supervisor for several Ph.D. candidates and co-supervisor for others. His research has been supported by various projects including HARALD, METIS, BUSE, and Matthew, with funding from sources such as ACCESS grants, European Union FP7, and the Swedish Strategic Foundation.
