Robert Weladji is a Professor in the Department of Biology at Concordia University, specializing in behavioral, population, and conservation ecology of large herbivores and wildlife. His research spans evolutionary ecology, terrestrial ecosystems, and the welfare of captive wildlife. Education: PhD from the Norwegian University of Life Sciences. His work examines how environmental factors, human activities, and social dynamics influence animal behavior, reproduction, and population stability. Key species include reindeer, caribou, forest elephants, and musk deer, with studies addressing habitat use, climate adaptation, and human-wildlife conflict. Recent publications focus on mangrove carbon dynamics, primate occupancy in Cameroon, reindeer vocalizations, and raccoon cognition. These reflect interdisciplinary approaches integrating field observations, acoustic monitoring, and computational modeling. Teaching includes courses in Population Ecology and Biodiversity & Ecology. He collaborates with international institutions on wildlife conservation and management projects, particularly in Cameroon and Norway.
