Mark A. Roebke serves as a Course Director and Senior Lecturer at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT), School of Systems and Logistics, located at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio. He joined AFIT in 2017 and specializes in teaching continuing education courses in Human Systems Integration (HSI) and Environment, Safety, and Occupational Health (ESOH). Dr. Roebke earned his PhD in Industrial and Organizational Psychology and Human Factors Psychology from Wright State University (2021), following a Master's degree in Industrial and Organizational Psychology from St. Cloud State University (2013) and a Bachelor's degree in Psychology from North Dakota State University (2009). His research expertise spans multiple critical domains: Human Systems Integration (HSI) for military applications Environment, Safety, and Occupational Health integration Trust dynamics in human-machine teaming Personnel and workforce optimization Suspicion and trust of automation systems Industrial-organizational psychology applications Dr. Roebke's scholarly work demonstrates consistent focus on the human factors of technological systems, particularly examining how personnel interact with and trust automated systems within military contexts. His publications reveal expertise bridging theoretical psychology with practical military applications. His notable academic achievements include: APS Student Research Award, Honorable Mention (2017) Runner-up for Breakthrough of the Year by Science Magazine (2015) As an educator, Dr. Roebke directs and teaches several key courses: SYS 169: Introduction to Human Systems Integration SYS 196: Integration of ESOH into Systems Engineering SYS 197/198: Integrating ESOH into Systems Engineering guides SYS 269: Intermediate Human Systems Integration Prior to AFIT, he conducted three years of research with the 711th Human Performance Wing on trust and automation, and taught at Wright State University, bringing valuable cross-institutional perspective to his current role.
