Maurice Herlihy is the An Wang Professor of Computer Science at Brown University's School of Engineering, Department of Computer Science. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from MIT and an A.B. in Mathematics from Harvard University. His career includes roles at Carnegie Mellon University and the DEC Cambridge Research Lab. Herlihy is renowned for contributions to distributed computing, concurrency control, and blockchain technologies. He has authored influential books like The Art of Multiprocessor Programming and Distributed Computing Through Combinatorial Topology . His research focuses on consensus algorithms, transactional memory, and distributed systems design.
