Jeff Henrikson serves as a Faculty Specialist, IT Manager for the Department of Atmospheric and Oceanic Science at the University of Maryland since June 2014, while concurrently pursuing a PhD. He teaches courses including AOSC 123 (Global Change), AOSC 200 (Weather and Climate), AOSC 247 (Python Programming for Scientific Data), AOSC 399 (Peer Mentoring), and AOSC 652 (Analysis Methods). His roles emphasize integrating technology, education, and STEM outreach. Education: PhD Student in Atmospheric and Oceanic Science at UMD. Prior experience includes roles at Lowell Observatory (Pluto discovery site), Kitt Peak National Observatory, and Northern Arizona University’s Center for Microbial Genetics and Genomics, where forensic work on the 2001 anthrax attacks was conducted. Research focuses on science communication, misinformation, and bridging computational methods with climate science. Courses emphasize Python programming, data visualization, and real-world data analysis in Linux environments. He mentors students through the Academic Peer Mentoring program, fostering pedagogical innovation.
