Prof. Dr. Şehnaz Ceylan has been a full-time faculty member at Karabük University, Faculty of Health Sciences, Department of Child Development since 2009, currently holding the rank of Professor and serving as Department Chair . She obtained her bachelor’s, master’s and doctoral degrees from Gazi University in Child Development and Education between 1995 and 2009. Education: PhD, Child Development and Education, Gazi University Institute of Educational Sciences (2003–2009) MSc, Child Development and Education (Thesis), Gazi University Institute of Educational Sciences (2000–2003) BA, Child Development and Household Management Education, Gazi University Faculty of Vocational Education (1995–1999) Research Focus: Her extensive research portfolio centres on early childhood development , parent–child interaction , early intervention , creative drama and child sexual education . She explores how play, literature, family education and digital tools can be leveraged to foster social-emotional, cognitive and language growth in 0–8-year-olds. Publication Trends: Over the last five years her work has converged on three broad domains: (1) parental roles and wellbeing —investigating paternal burnout, father–child play, and maternal self-efficacy; (2) early literacy and library-based interventions —designing baby-library programs and analysing children’s books for environmental, sexual-health and sleep-education themes; and (3) instrument development —creating and validating scales measuring parental sexual communication and attitudes toward sexual education. Scientific Recognition & Funding: Although no named awards are listed, she has attracted 13 funded research projects (national and institutional) and amassed 256 citations, attaining an h-index of 9. She has edited 6 books and served on editorial boards of national journals. Supervision & Teaching: Principal supervisor to 21 master’s and 2 PhD theses currently in progress or completed. Regularly teaches undergraduate and graduate courses on infancy research, early intervention, drama in education, child sexuality, and child literature. Laboratory & Outreach: She spearheads the “Baby Library” initiative in Karabük, integrating toy libraries, book readings and parent-training sessions to promote early literacy and developmental screening for children 0–36 months.
