Emre Mengi is a Professor in the Department of Mathematics at Koc University, affiliated with the School of Computational Sciences and Engineering. He holds a PhD (2006) and Master’s (2003) in Mathematics from New York University, and a B.A. (2000) in Computer Engineering from Middle East Technical University. Research areas: Numerical Analysis , Eigenvalue Optimization , and Model Reduction Current focus: Subspace frameworks for nonlinear eigenvalue problems and pseudospectral abscissa minimization His recent work emphasizes large-scale stability analysis of descriptor and Hamiltonian systems, distance-to-instability measures, and L∞-norm computation for robust control. He has developed algorithms for nonsmooth eigenvalue optimization and software tools like Eigopt.
