Anne-Laure Briatte is a Lecturer in German history and civilization at Sorbonne University's Faculty of Germanic and Nordic Studies, where she has been employed since 2012. She is a statutory member of the UMR SIRICE research unit, specializing in gender history with a focus on German-speaking contexts. In 2023, she obtained her Habilitation to Direct Research (HDR) from Paris Cité University with a thesis examining wartime sexual violence during the French occupation of Germany. Her research expertise spans the History of Women and Gender, History of Feminisms in Germany and Europe, European integration through gender lenses, and sexual violence in wartime contexts. She has published extensively on Wilhelmine Germany's feminist movements, including her monograph 'Citoyennes sous tutelle' (2013) and its German translation 'Bevormundete Staatsbürgerinnen' (2020). Her work connects historical analysis with contemporary gender politics, particularly regarding European integration and gender equality. Her scholarly output reveals consistent focus on German feminist movements across the 19th-21st centuries, with increasing attention to wartime sexual violence and European gender politics.
