Oleg Petrenko is an Associate Professor of Management and the Rath Chair in Strategic Management at the Michael F. Price College of Business, University of Oklahoma. He holds a Ph.D. from Oklahoma State University and focuses on the micro-foundations of strategy in large corporations and new ventures, particularly the psychological influences of executives and entrepreneurs on strategic decision-making and firm performance. His research bridges leadership psychology and organizational strategy, aiming to enhance leadership effectiveness. Prior to OU, he taught at the University of Arkansas and Texas Tech University. His work has been published in over 20 peer-reviewed articles, emphasizing topics like CEO personality traits (e.g., Machiavellianism, narcissism), venture capital dynamics, and standardized research methodologies. He is a proponent of replicable research practices and has contributed to frameworks like the SMART Tool for management research. His scholarship frequently addresses power dynamics in entrepreneurial ecosystems, leadership succession, and the interplay between personal attributes and corporate outcomes. Notable themes include the impact of executive agreeableness on costs, the role of language style in investor pitches, and the behavioral foundations of strategic action.
