Prof. Rineke Verbrugge is a Professor in Artificial Intelligence at the University of Groningen's Faculty of Science and Engineering, affiliated with the Bernoulli Institute. Her research focuses on computational theory of mind, multi-agent systems, hybrid intelligence, and logical frameworks applied to social networks and legal reasoning. She holds additional roles on the Institute Advisory Board of CWI (Dutch National Research Institute for Mathematics and Computer Science) and several ERC/NWO selection committees. Her work bridges cognitive science and AI, emphasizing human-agent collaboration, belief formation in groups, and ethical AI design. Recent projects include developing computational models for theory of mind in negotiations and scenario-based Bayesian networks for legal evidence analysis.
