Eric Monier is Professor and Chair of the Physics Department at State University of New York at Brockport, where he has served since 2004 after completing postdoctoral work at The Ohio State University. His research utilizes quasars to investigate cosmic evolution of gas and galaxies across 12 billion years through observations from four continents and the Hubble Space Telescope. His academic credentials include: BSEE in Electrical Engineering, University of Pittsburgh, 1986 B.S. in Physics, University of Pittsburgh, 1991 M.S. in Physics, University of Pittsburgh, 1996 PhD in Physics, University of Pittsburgh, 1998 Dr. Monier's research spans Astrophysics and Cosmology with specialized focus on Quasar Studies, Galaxy Evolution, and Observational Astronomy. He employs quasars as cosmic probes to analyze intergalactic medium evolution and galactic formation processes through multi-continental telescope networks and Hubble data. His teaching portfolio encompasses undergraduate astronomy and physics education including Science & Society: Life in the Universe, Exploring the Solar System, Stars Galaxies and the Universe, plus advanced courses in Quantum Mechanics, Classical Mechanics, and Electromagnetism.
