Ali Touran is a Professor in the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Northeastern University’s College of Engineering. His research focuses on risk assessment, construction cost/schedule uncertainty, project delivery systems, simulation, and construction productivity. He holds licensure as a Professional Engineer in Massachusetts and has received notable awards including Fellow status in the American Society of Civil Engineers (2006) and the Best Paper Award at the ASEE New England Conference (2004). Education : Ph.D., Civil Engineering, Stanford University, 1980 M.S., Civil Engineering, Stanford University, 1978 B.S., Civil Engineering, Tehran University, 1977 Research Interests : Dr. Touran’s work addresses critical challenges in construction management, including optimizing project portfolios, quantifying risk in transportation infrastructure, and improving decision-making under uncertainty. His methodologies integrate simulation and probabilistic analysis to enhance project outcomes. Recent projects include studies on Integrated Project Delivery (IPD) for industrial projects and cost estimation techniques for highway construction.
