I. Glenn Cohen is the James A. Attwood and Leslie Williams Professor of Law at Harvard Law School and Faculty Director of the Petrie-Flom Center for Health Law Policy, Biotechnology & Bioethics. He holds a JD from Harvard Law School (2003) and a B.A. in Bioethics and Psychology from the University of Toronto (2000). His work bridges bioethics and law, focusing on reproductive technologies, AI in healthcare, FDA regulation, and medical tourism. Cohen has authored over 300 articles and 20 books, including influential texts like Patients with Passports and Big Data, Health Law, and Bioethics . He advises governments and corporations on health law, including recent work on psychedelic drug regulation and AI-driven medical liability frameworks. Key achievements include the 2017 HLS Teaching Award, Greenwall Faculty Scholar Award (2012), and election to the National Academy of Medicine. Cohen leads major initiatives like the Project on Precision Medicine, Artificial Intelligence, and the Law (PMAIL) and Diagnosing in the Home project. His research also addresses global health equity, NFL player health policy, and ethical challenges in emerging technologies. Active in public engagement, he created Harvard's Bioethics MOOC (83K+ students) and the Zero-L law school preparation course. His scholarship spans interdisciplinary collaborations, including work on mitochondrial replacement therapy, fetal pain jurisprudence, and the legal implications of life extension technologies. Cohen frequently testifies before legislative bodies, advises multinational companies, and serves on editorial boards like the Journal of Law and the Biosciences . His current projects tackle AI ethics, psychedelic patents, and the intersection of quantum technology with healthcare governance.
