Dr. Agata Kołakowska serves as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Intelligent Interactive Systems within the Faculty of Electronics, Telecommunications and Informatics at Gdańsk University of Technology. Her research focuses on developing innovative solutions for data collection and processing in challenging environments, particularly in rural IoT ecosystems. Her primary research interests center around anomaly detection in sensor data , time series analysis , and edge computing solutions for resource-constrained devices. She specializes in implementing artificial neural networks on edge devices with limited computational capabilities and power supply, particularly in scenarios involving Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) as nomadic gateways for data collection in areas with poor telecommunications infrastructure. Her recent publications (2022-2025) demonstrate a consistent research trajectory in developing methods for handling incomplete time series data, optimizing data transmission in rural IoT ecosystems, and creating efficient anomaly detection systems. Her work bridges theoretical computer science with practical applications in sensor networks and rural data collection systems. Dr. Kołakowska collaborates extensively with researchers including J. Dembski and B. Wiszniewski on projects related to UAV-based data collection systems and time series analysis. Her research has practical applications in environmental monitoring, rural IoT deployments, and tourism economics analysis.
