Dr. Haoyu Lou is a Grant-Funded Researcher (A) at the University of Adelaide, affiliated with the School of Agriculture, Food and Wine within the Faculty of Sciences, Engineering and Technology. He is based at The Plant Accelerator facility in Waite. His research focuses on plant phenotyping and genetics, leveraging advanced imaging technologies like X-ray CT to study cereal crops. Education: BSc in Biotechnology from the University of Newcastle (2013), MSc in Plant Biotechnology from the University of Adelaide (2015), and a PhD from the University of Adelaide and University of Nottingham (2020). Research interests include root architecture analysis, cereal spike phenotyping, and cell wall biology. He collaborates with academic and industry partners on projects involving wheat, barley, and other crops. His work emphasizes non-destructive 3D imaging techniques to accelerate plant breeding programs. Advising: Eligible to supervise Masters and PhD students. Current projects involve developing high-throughput phenotyping methods for cereal grains and exploring genetic mechanisms controlling root and spike development. Labs/Teams: Active member of The Plant Accelerator team, leading innovations in plant phenomics and agricultural technology.
