Rachee Singh is an Assistant Professor of Computer Science at Cornell University, where she leads the sysphotonics research group. She also holds a concurrent role as an Amazon Scholar in the SageMaker Hyperpod teams at Amazon, specializing in large-scale machine learning infrastructure development. Her research bridges photonic systems and distributed computing to optimize cloud-scale workloads. Her research focuses on: Designing photonic interconnects for server/rack-scale and long-haul networks Enhancing distributed machine learning performance through network optimization Developing algorithms for cloud workload efficiency Advancing traffic engineering in wide-area networks Creating fault-tolerant optical network architectures Her publications demonstrate consistent focus on photonic networking innovations applied to cloud systems and machine learning infrastructure, with recent emphasis on optical WANs, memory offloading techniques for LLMs, and chip-to-chip photonics. Major Awards: Cisco Research Award (2023, 2025) Amazon Research Award (2024) PCCW Affinito-Stewart Grant (2024) She leads the sysphotonics group at Cornell, advising PhD students on photonic networking and distributed systems research. Her work is supported by $1M+ grants from NSF, DARPA (JUMP 2.0), Cisco, Amazon, and Cornell's Atkinson Center for Sustainability.
