Professor Craig Munns is the Mayne Professor of Paediatrics and Director of the Child Health Research Centre at The University of Queensland. He is also a Senior Medical Officer at Queensland Children’s Hospital. His expertise spans paediatric musculoskeletal disorders, with a focus on bone disorders such as osteogenesis imperfecta, hypophosphataemic rickets, and nutritional rickets. He has authored international consensus guidelines and led numerous clinical trials. Prof. Munns holds roles in national and international societies, including treasurer of the International Society of Children’s Bone Health. He graduated from UQ, completed a PhD in paediatric growth disorders, and held roles at The Children’s Hospital at Westmead until 2021. His research emphasizes improving bone health outcomes through advanced therapies and clinical guidelines. Research interests include genetic and metabolic bone disorders, clinical trials, and vitamin D’s role in bone health. His work has led to global guidelines on nutritional rickets prevention. He oversees grants such as the Australian Cerebral Palsy Musculoskeletal Health Network and supervises PhD/Master’s students in bone-related research.
