David Claridge is a Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Texas A&M University's College of Engineering, where he also directs the Energy Systems Laboratory. His educational background includes a Ph.D. in Physics from Stanford University. Dr. Claridge's research focuses on advancing energy efficiency in built environments through innovations in dehumidification technologies, building commissioning processes, and energy savings verification methods. His research explores membrane dehumidification systems, measurement techniques for energy conservation, and optimization of HVAC operations. The laboratory employs approximately 75 researchers and has contributed significantly to Texas emissions reduction programs through technical reports and policy guidance. Dr. Claridge has received numerous prestigious awards including multiple mentoring awards (2024), ASHRAE's Distinguished Fellow Award (2022), and research achievement recognition from the Association of Former Students (2003). His publications demonstrate consistent focus on energy system optimization with recent work exploring advanced cooling technologies, emissions quantification, and fluid dynamics in energy applications. As director of the Energy Systems Laboratory, he oversees research initiatives that bridge academic investigation with practical industry applications, particularly in the areas of continuous commissioning and industrial assessment programs.
