Heli Etu-Sihvola is a Doctoral Researcher in the Geosciences Unit at the University of Helsinki's Faculty of Science, specializing in stable isotope systematics and isotope archaeology. Her research primarily focuses on the Luistari Cemetery in Eura, Finland, where she applies isotopic analysis to understand early medieval communities (600-1130 CE) through human and animal skeletal remains. Her research interests center on isotope archaeology , particularly using carbon, nitrogen, and strontium isotope analysis to reconstruct past diets, mobility patterns, and social structures. She examines how isotopic signatures in skeletal remains can reveal insights about migration, trade networks, and cultural interactions during the Viking Age and early medieval period in Finland. Her work bridges archaeology, anthropology, and geochemistry, with specific focus on bioarchaeological approaches to understanding ancient communities. Analysis of her publication record reveals a strong interdisciplinary focus on multi-isotopic approaches to studying the Luistari Cemetery.
