Julia Rose Gog is a Professor of Mathematical Biology at the University of Cambridge's Department of Applied Mathematics and Theoretical Physics (DAMTP). She holds the David N. Moore Fellowship in Mathematics at Queens' College and serves as Deputy Head of DAMTP, Vice President of Queens' College, and Director of the Millennium Maths Project. Her research focuses on infectious disease dynamics, including influenza strain evolution, spatial spread models, and viral bioinformatics. Gog has received numerous awards, including the Royal Society Rosalind Franklin Award (2020), OBE (2020), and the IMA Hedy Lamarr Prize (2023). She contributed significantly to pandemic response through work with SPI-M-O and the JUNIPER partnership. Education & Career: Gog pursued research fellowships at Queens' College and the University of Cambridge's Zoology Department before becoming a University Lecturer at DAMTP (2006–2013). She was a Visiting Fellow at Princeton University (2010–2012). Her roles include leading interdisciplinary initiatives and public engagement in mathematical sciences. Research Interests: Her work integrates mathematical models with epidemiological data to understand pathogen dynamics, with recent projects on SARS-CoV-2 variants, influenza evolution, and Salmonella in vitro dynamics. She develops bioinformatic tools to detect viral RNA signals.
