Elena Marcello serves as an External Lecturer and Teaching Assistant at the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (DIMEAS) at Politecnico di Torino, where she contributes to multiple Master's level courses in Biomedical Engineering. She is actively involved in cutting-edge research through the BIOINSIDE LAB research group. Her research interests span a wide range of biomedical engineering topics including 3D bioprinting, advanced therapies, antibacterial materials, biomaterial processing, biopolymers, drug delivery systems, hydrogels and scaffolds, and tissue engineering. Her work particularly focuses on developing innovative delivery systems for RNA therapeutics and cardiac regeneration applications. Marcello is currently supervising PhD student Giovanni Paolo Stola and is actively involved in multiple competitive research projects including INJECTHEAL, RECHARGE, MERIT, EMPATIC, NANOMIRC, and NAPTER, which collectively address critical challenges in regenerative medicine and advanced drug delivery systems. Her research is supported by significant funding from EU Horizon Europe programs and Italy's PNRR Mission 4 initiatives, reflecting the high impact and relevance of her work in the biomedical engineering field. Marcello teaches across multiple academic years (2021/22 through 2025/26) in courses related to biomedical nanotechnologies, tissue engineering models, and regenerative medicine, demonstrating her sustained contribution to graduate education at Politecnico di Torino.
