Heidi A. Hanson is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Surgery at the University of Utah. She serves as Assistant Director of Research at the Utah Population Database (UPDB) and is an Affiliate Member of the Scientific Computing and Imaging Institute (SCI Institute), as well as a research scientist at the Huntsman Cancer Institute. Key areas include: Environmental determinants of health (e.g., air pollution, neighborhood effects) Familial clustering of diseases (cancer, cardiovascular, and reproductive health) Life course epidemiology linking early-life exposures to later-life outcomes Methodological advances in population health data analysis Interdisciplinary integration of clinical and translational research Her work leverages large databases (UPDB, SEER, NHANES) and machine learning to address precision medicine strategies. She has received a National Institutes of Health K07 award for her research on bladder cancer determinants and has published extensively on topics ranging from cancer survivorship to epigenetic aging. Collaborations span urology, oncology, environmental health, and computational biology.
