Dr. Clement Agoni is an SFI Fellow at the School of Medicine, University College Dublin. He holds a Ph.D. in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and an MMedSc from the University of KwaZulu-Natal (South Africa), and a BSc in Medical Laboratory Technology from the University of Cape Coast (Ghana). His research focuses on computational drug design, structural bioinformatics, and molecular modeling for discovering therapeutic molecules, particularly bioactive peptides and small molecules. Academic Positions: Honorary Research Fellow (University of KwaZulu-Natal), Postdoctoral Research Fellow (Tshwane University of Technology), Research Assistant (University of KwaZulu-Natal). Non-Academic Roles: Laboratory Manager (Baiden Ghartey Memorial Hospital), Founder of Dream Laboratory Consult. Research Interests: Developing computational pipelines for peptide discovery, integrating machine learning and protein language models to prioritize therapeutic candidates. His work emphasizes accelerating drug discovery through faster computational methods and structural modeling. Articles Trends: Recent work includes computational screening for anti-SARS-CoV-2 therapeutics, peptide bioactivity predictors (AutoPeptideML), gold complexes for HIV inhibition, and molecular modeling of SARS-CoV-2 proteins. Themes span drug repurposing, natural product inhibitors, and bioactive peptide characterization. Scientific Awards: Marie Skłodowska-Curie CareerFit Plus Fellowship, SFI Fellow, Top 10 Published Postgraduate Students (2019). Advising/Grants: Mentored 7 students in projects like Food Protein Database and peptide-GPCR interactions. Funded by EU Horizon 2020 via the Marie Skłodowska-Curie grant (No. 847402). Active in grant administration and collaborative research networks. Labs/Teams: Collaborates with the Conway Institute, NITheCS, and global research groups in computational biology and drug discovery.
