Mohammad Malikan is an Assistant Professor at the Department of Mechanics of Materials and Structures within the Faculty of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Gdańsk University of Technology. His research focuses on advanced composite materials and structural mechanics with applications in smart materials and micro/nano-scale structures. His primary research interests include: Nanocomposites and functionally graded materials Composite structures and laminated composites Mathematical modeling of mechanical systems Mechanics of materials with emphasis on elasticity and nonlinear behavior Smart materials including piezoelectric, flexoelectric, piezomagnetic and flexomagnetic properties Dr. Malikan's recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on three-dimensional modeling of smart composite structures, particularly examining electro-magneto-elastic coupling effects. His work bridges theoretical modeling with experimental validation, often employing advanced numerical techniques like finite element analysis. A significant portion of his research investigates novel applications of graphene-reinforced composites and their piezoelectric properties. His research has been supported by projects including "Nonlocal Models of Plates and Shells with Applications in Micro- and Nanomechanics" and a "Research internship at the University of Massachusetts Lowell to work on experimental tasks regarding functionally graded nano-composites" funded by MINIATURA.
