Laurene Tetard is an Associate Professor in the Department of Physics at CREOL, The College of Optics and Photonics, University of Central Florida. Her research focuses on nanoscale materials characterization, with expertise in atomic force microscopy (AFM), Raman spectroscopy, and nanotechnology applications in photonics, catalysis, and biomedical engineering. She explores topics including 2D materials synthesis, defect engineering, and material degradation mechanisms in extreme environments. Her work bridges fundamental physics with practical applications, such as developing diagnostic microsystems, improving thermal barrier coatings for aerospace, and advancing sustainable polymers. Tetard’s interdisciplinary research also addresses planetary science through studies of regolith particle interactions and environmental effects on biomaterials. Her research has led to innovations in nanofabrication, catalytic materials, and energy-related technologies, with a strong emphasis on nanoscale imaging and spectroscopic techniques.
