Vadim Anatoliyovych Shalomeev is Doctor of Technical Sciences and Professor who serves as Vice-Rector for Research at Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University. With a career spanning since 1984, he specializes in magnesium alloys, particularly their development for both aircraft engine manufacturing and medical applications (specifically biodegradable implants for osteosynthesis). Professor Shalomeev's research focuses on the development and research of magnesium alloys for aircraft engine manufacturing and medicine. His work bridges materials science, metallurgy, and biomedical engineering, with particular emphasis on improving the properties of magnesium alloys through various alloying techniques, processing methods, and surface treatments. His research has significant applications in demanding fields like aerospace engineering and medical implant technology. Analysis of his recent publications reveals a strong focus on biodegradable magnesium alloys for medical implants, with particular attention to alloying elements (silver, gold, noble metals), microstructure characterization, corrosion resistance, and mechanical properties. His work also extends to steel alloys and resource-saving technologies in metallurgy. Professor Shalomeev has contributed to numerous patents related to magnesium alloys and has published extensively in journals covering materials science, metallurgy, and biomedical engineering. His research has practical applications in both the medical field (osteosynthesis implants) and industrial sectors (aerospace, mining). In addition to his research responsibilities, Professor Shalomeev teaches Descriptive geometry, engineering and computer graphics, contributing to the education of future engineers at Zaporizhzhia Polytechnic University.
