Geoffrey Grandjean is a Full Professor at the Faculty of Law, Political Science and Criminology at the University of Liège since 2014. He also serves as Vice-dean for teaching (2024-2025), President of the Department of Political Science (2022-2024), and Secretary of the Faculty (2021-2024). Since 2022, he has been an associated researcher at the École de droit de Sciences Po Paris. His academic leadership extends to his presidency of the Belgian Political Science Association (2021-2024). Dr. Grandjean's educational background includes: Licencié en Sciences Politiques (Université de Liège, 2007) with highest distinction Master of Arts in European Political and Administrative Studies (College of Europe, 2008) with 'Very good' Doctorat en Sciences politiques et sociales (Université de Liège, 2012) Certificat Inter-facultaire de Développement Pédagogique (Université de Liège, 2019) His research focuses on Belgian and European political history and institutions, with particular emphasis on political representation, democratic theory, and institutional development. Grandjean has made significant contributions to understanding sortition in politics, political argumentation, and the historical development of political institutions in Wallonia. His work bridges historical analysis with contemporary political challenges, examining how past institutional arrangements shape current governance structures. Analysis of his recent publications reveals a strong focus on democratic innovation, particularly examining citizen assemblies and sortition as alternative forms of political representation. His scholarship also addresses Belgian federalism, European integration, memory studies (particularly Shoah transmission), and political argumentation. There's a clear interdisciplinary approach connecting political history, institutional analysis, and contemporary governance challenges. He has been actively involved in editorial work as director of Cahiers Mémoire et Politique and member of the editorial committee for Politics of the Low Countries. His professional engagement extends to numerous associations including the Cercle des Amis de la Cité Ardente and Société des Bibliophiles liégeois, reflecting his commitment to both academic and civic life. Grandjean also maintains interests beyond academia, holding a diploma in bookbinding, gilding and restoration (2012) and being an active bibliophile with particular interest in 19th century books as a member of the Société des Bibliophiles liégeois since 2017.
