Dr. Vivek Francis is a Research Fellow in Offshore Renewable Energy Hydrodynamics at the University of Plymouth's School of Engineering, Computing and Mathematics within the Faculty of Science and Engineering. He works on the AEON project developing next-generation floating hybrid energy platforms for island communities, investigating the viability of coupling solar panels with wave energy converter systems. His research focuses on wave-structure interaction problems, hydrodynamic characteristics of thin porous barriers, and coastal protection systems. Expertise includes experimental fluid dynamics, wave tank testing, and solitary wave modeling. Publications primarily focus on wave interaction with coastal structures, hydrodynamic performance of porous barriers, and wave energy converter integration. Research demonstrates strong experimental approach to coastal engineering challenges. Dr. Francis completed his PhD at the IITB-Monash Research Academy on 'Hydrodynamic Characteristics of Thin Porous Barriers' under supervision of Prof. Balaji Ramakrishnan and Prof. Murray Rudman. He holds an MSc in Mechanical Engineering from University College London.
