Dr. Gabriel R. Venegas is an Assistant Professor of Ocean Engineering at the University of New Hampshire, affiliated with the Department of Environmental and Civil Engineering. He is a research affiliate with the Center for Coastal and Ocean Mapping and the Center for Acoustics Research and Education. His work focuses on underwater acoustics, acoustical oceanography, and bioacoustics, with emphasis on sediment acoustics in dynamic environments, organic carbon sequestration impacts, and acoustic scattering from marine flora/fauna. Ph.D., Mechanical Engineering, University of Texas at Austin B.S., Mechanical Engineering, Boston University Dr. Venegas's research explores sediment geoacoustic properties , seagrass meadow interactions , and bioactivity effects on acoustic variability. His recent publications highlight advancements in understanding seabed heterogeneity, shallow-water acoustics, and marine ecosystem monitoring. He teaches courses in Acoustics Essentials , Underwater Acoustics , and Advanced Research Experience . Dr. Venegas is an active member of the Acoustical Society of America, Coastal Estuarine Research Federation, and American Geophysical Union.
