Dr. Italo Barbosa Brasileiro is a postdoctoral researcher and research assistant at the Technische Universität Braunschweig (TU Braunschweig), Germany. He is affiliated with the Faculty of Electrical Engineering, Information Technology, and Physics, working within the Department of Electrical & Computer Engineering and the Institute for Computer and Network Engineering (Institut für Datentechnik und Kommunikationsnetze). He is a key member of Prof. Jukan's research group, where he conducts cutting-edge research in optical networking and communications technology. Dr. Brasileiro holds a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Computer Science from the Federal University of Piauí, Brazil, and a Ph.D. in Traffic Engineering from the University of Brasília, Brazil. His academic journey has positioned him as a specialist in network engineering with a focus on next-generation communication systems. His primary research interests include: Optical networks and fiber communications Traffic engineering for next-generation networks 6G technologies and security Energy efficiency in optical networks Multi-core fibers and spatial division multiplexing Mitigation of physical impairments in optical fibers Dr. Brasileiro's recent publications demonstrate a strong focus on improving network efficiency, security, and performance in optical and wireless communication systems. His work addresses critical challenges in spatial division multiplexing, crosstalk mitigation, and energy efficiency in elastic optical networks, with direct applications to next-generation 6G infrastructure development. His scientific contributions have been recognized through publications in top-tier venues including IEEE Globecom, ECOC, and IEEE Transactions on Green Communications and Networking.
