Professor Sohel Anwar is a faculty member at the Mechanical and Energy Engineering Department of IUPUI (Indiana University–Purdue University Indianapolis) and holds a courtesy appointment at Purdue University's West Lafayette campus. His research focuses on autonomous vehicles, sensor fusion, battery management, biomechanical devices, and wind turbine controls. He earned his BS, MSc from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, and MS/PhD from Florida State University and the University of Arizona. Key achievements include the IUPUI Favorite Professor Award (2020), leading the agBOT team to 2nd place in two national competitions, and securing patents in soot measurement and soft tissue massage devices. He has authored over 50 publications in journals like Frontiers in Artificial Intelligence and IEEE Access , emphasizing autonomous systems, battery technologies, and medical instrumentation. Prof. Anwar has held leadership roles, including Chair of IUPUI's Mechanical and Energy Engineering Graduate Committee (2010–2020) and has industry experience at Ford Motor Company and Caterpillar. His work bridges engineering disciplines, addressing challenges in sustainable mobility, robotics, and healthcare.
