Arie van Steensel is an Assistant Professor of Medieval History at the University of Groningen's Faculty of Arts. His research focuses on the social and economic history of the European Middle Ages, with particular emphasis on urban history of England, Italy and the Low Countries, and the history of nobility in the Low Countries. His scholarly profile demonstrates deep expertise in late medieval urban development and nobility structures across European regions.
