Assoc. Prof. Mahmut F. Aksit is a Faculty Member at the Mechatronics Engineering department of Sabancı University's Faculty of Engineering and Natural Sciences . He holds a Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (1998) and has over 25 years of experience in academia and industry. Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (1998) M.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (1993) B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Boğaziçi University (1991) His research spans renewable energy systems , turbomachinery seals , unmanned aerial vehicles , and high-temperature material behavior . He has developed innovative solutions for wind turbine infrastructure , micro-hydro systems , and quad tilt-wing UAVs . Recent publications focus on 3D thermo-elastohydrodynamics , cloth seal leakage performance , and friction characteristics of superalloys . His work combines computational modeling with experimental validation, particularly in tribology and fluid dynamics . His team collaborates internationally on gas turbine lubrication systems and renewable energy solutions .
