Josep Sedó Vegara is currently a Senior Associate Researcher and Project Manager at the Catalan Institute of Nanoscience and Nanotechnology (ICN2) in Bellaterra, Spain. He holds a Ph.D. in Chemistry from the Institut de Ciència de Materials de Barcelona (ICMAB) and a Chemical Engineering degree from the Institut Químic de Sarrià. His research focuses on biomimetic functional materials, self-assembled nanostructures, and advanced material synthesis techniques inspired by biological systems. Key contributions include developing catechol-based adhesives, photochromic materials, and hydrophobic coatings for environmental applications. Education: Ph.D. in Chemistry, Institut de Ciència de Materials de Barcelona (1998–present) Chemical Engineering, Institut Químic de Sarrià (1994–present) Research Interests: His work spans bioinspired materials, nanotechnology, polymer chemistry, and functional materials for environmental and biomedical applications. He explores catechol-mediated self-assembly processes and novel polymers for heavy metal removal and oil-water separation. Recent Trends in Publications: His recent studies emphasize practical applications of biomimetic materials, including polydopamine-based particles for heavy metal cleanup and mussel-inspired hydrophobic coatings. His work often bridges organic chemistry with advanced material design, focusing on functional polymers and nanostructured systems. Professional Experience: Previous roles include Project Manager positions at JEVSA SA (2003–2010) and Medichem SA (2000–2003), and a postdoctoral fellowship at UCLA (1999–2000).
