Stephen B. Kaplan is an Associate Professor of Political Science and International Affairs at Georgetown University, with affiliations to the Institute for International Economic Policy. His research focuses on international political economy, particularly the political economy of global finance, China’s foreign investment strategies, and Latin American political economy. He has authored award-winning books, including *Globalizing Patient Capital* (2021) and *Globalization and Austerity Politics in Latin America* (2013), and has published in leading journals like *The Journal of Politics* and *World Development*. Research interests span China’s state-led finance, international indebtedness, and the political economy of macroeconomic policymaking. He teaches courses like International Political Economy and Political Economy of Latin America.
