Professor Mihalis Kavaratzis holds the title of Professor of Place Marketing at Manchester Metropolitan University's Business School. He joined in 2022 and previously served as an Associate Professor at the University of Leicester. His expertise lies in place marketing, place branding, and tourism destination marketing, with a focus on participatory approaches and cultural dimensions. He co-founded the International Place Branding Association and serves on editorial boards of multiple journals. Education includes a PhD on City Marketing from the University of Groningen, an MSc in Marketing from the University of Stirling, and a Business Administration degree from Greece. He has advised local governments on place branding strategies and delivered over 30 keynote speeches. Awards include Senior Fellowship of the Institute of Place Management and recognition for impactful research in place branding. Research interests emphasize resident engagement, co-creation in branding, and sustainability. He has supervised eight PhD students and examined 15 doctoral theses globally. His work bridges theory and practice, with notable contributions to journals like Tourism Management and Marketing Theory.
